OGBONNA, ONLY ABSENTEE FOR CITY CLASH

West Ham United manager David Moyes has an almost fit squad to choose from as he prepares his team for the daunting task of facing Premier League holders Manchester City this weekend. West Ham United are currently in the top four on the Premier League log and their credentials would be tested when they take on the Citizens in a league outing billed for the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the league trip to face Manchester City, Hammers boss Moyes has one injury issue and it’s long-term. Nigerian-born Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna suffered the dreaded cruciate knee ligaments injury during the home league clash with Liverpool at the start of this month and he’s almost certain to miss the rest of this season after undergoing successful surgery.

The serious knee injury to Ogbonna was a bit of a downer for West Ham United who were able to secure a big win over the previously unbeaten Reds. West Ham United ended their recent poor record against Liverpool by securing a 3-2 win thereby ending the unbeaten run from the team from Merseyside. Liverpool were the only unbeaten Premier League team this season until they met the Hammers in their last outing before this month’s international break.

Liverpool responded to the adversity of losing their first league game of this season by beating North Londoners Arsenal. The Reds scored three goals in the second half goals via the likes of substitute Takumi Minamino, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota to add to the first half header from Sadio Mane on the way to a 4-0 victory over the Gunners. For West Ham, they could not build on the big win over Liverpool as they were beaten 1-0 at Wolves thanks to the goal from Mexican player Raul Jimenez in the second half.
